SURTS - Sequel Unifying Risk Transfer Standard

Sequel along with ACORD and six Managing Agents, “The Sequel Six”, are developing data and application programming interface (API) standards for the London Market. “Sequel Unifying Risk Transfer Standard” or SURTS is intended as a common standard for exchanging data between insurance market participants.
The standard is based on the ACORD standards, including initiatives such as the Ruschlikon Initiative. It uses Sequel’s proprietary API standards, donated to the market, as the foundation on which the new standardised language will be built.
The goal of the initiative is to improve speed and efficiency in the distribution chain and help drive adoption of the key Blueprint 2 initiatives.
Currently, companies are faced with building unique API connections to partners, portals and hubs – each having a different API. SURTS aims to standardise the API connection thus simplifying the design of inter-company data communication links.
SURTS is currently in development.
